GPS Reference Time

Meinberg products are the leaders in GPS and GLONASS receivers for providing an accurate time source. A GPS time server utilizes the GPS receiver as a reference time source and distributes the received absolute time throughout the network. This can be used in combination with a IEEE1588 time server to distribute the highly accurate GPS time signal.

Meinberg Time and Frequency reference products are extremely flexible. With the right configuration, Meinberg is able to solve almost any time and frequency requirement. The Meinberg GPS antenna system allows distances up to 700m between the time server and the antenna. Unlike other competitors, the receiver is not included in the antenna housing and therefore not exposed to harsh environmental conditions (temperature, humidity).

Versatile and Modular Solution for Time and Frequency Synchronization Application in 1U housing

The 1U chassis has two power supply slots, optional two clock module slots, a CPU slot and four (three in case of a second reference clock) slots for additional input and output modules. Adding a second clock module and a second power supply transforms the IMS – M1000 into a fully redundant solution. Both, wide range AC and a 20-72 VDC power supply model can be mixed and matched as required.

Key Features

  • Optimized space usage
  • Synchronization of NTP and SNTP compatible clients
  • Web-based status and configuration interface (Demo), and console-based graphical configuration utility
  • IMS – Intelligent Modular System platform
  • Up to 4 PTP (IEEE 1588-2008) modules
  • Redundant power and receiver option (eg GPS / GLONASS combination)
  • Hot Plug
  • Arbitrary combinations of modules
  • Meinberg’s LANTIME time server is available with a variety of additional output options: IRIG Time Code, frequency synthesizer and programmable pulse outputs illustrate some of the many expansion options for your NTP server
  • Up to 16 additional LAN ports

High End NTP Time Server

The Meinberg LANTIME time server is used around the world to provide accurate time to networks of any size. It synchronizes all systems either NTP- or SNTP-compatible and uses an integral Meinberg reference clock as its time source to synchronize all timing outputs with the utmost accuracy. The front panel includes a VF Display and keypad for easy configuration, and indication of the receiver and NTP subsystem status. A high quality precision OCXO is standard in the M600, to allow this time server to meet the stringent holdover requirements.

Key Features

  • Selectable Reference Sources:
    • GPS: Satellite receiver for the Global Positioning System
    • GNS: Combined GPS/GLONASS/Galileo/BeiDou satellite receiver (L1 frequency band), can also be used for mobile applications
    • MRS: (GPS, PPS, 10MHz, NTP): Multi Reference Source – several reference sources, adjustable following priority of signal
  • Synchronization of NTP and SNTP compatible clients
  • Web-based status and configuration interface (Demo) and console-based graphical configuration utility
  • Supported networking protocols: IPv4, IPv6, HTTPS, HTTP, SSH, TELNET, SCP, SFTP, FTP, SYSLOG, SNMP
  • Alert-Notification system of status change by Email, WinMail, SNMP or an external connected display

GPS Antenna/Multi GNSS Antenna

Meinberg antennas product image

The GPS antenna combines a planar antenna and a frequency converter, which translates the high-frequency phase-modulated spread spectrum signal of the GPS system to an intermediate frequency. This way a standard coaxial cable (e.g. RG58) can be used for the connection with the GPS clock and a distance of up to 300 meters (with RG58) or even 700 meters (with a low-loss cable type like RG213) between receiver and antenna is possible without additional amplifier.

Meinberg can also supply a Multi GNSS L1 antenna. suitable for GPS / Galileo / GLONASS / Beidou signals with Integrated Lightning Protection. L1 Antenna can be connected with up to 70m of coax cable type Belden H155.

GPS signal converter and diplexer

Meinberg GPS Converter product image

The Meinberg GPS converter allows the connection of a L1 antenna (1575.42MHz) of other vendors to a Meinberg GPS receiver which uses an intermediate frequency.

The module doesn’t provide any DC voltage for powering active antennas, the DC voltage has to be applied externally via the 2-pin screw termminal.

For reconverting the Meinberg intermediate frequency to the original GPS frequency you can use the GPSGEN1575/MP diplexer.

Key Features

  • Reconversion of the Meinberg GPS Antenna signal (35.42MHz) into L1 frequency (1575MHz)
  • Pulse per second
  • 2x RS232 interfaces
  • Status output
  • Meinberg GPS Antenna/Converter Unit connected with up to 300m of standard coaxial cable RG58
  • Remote control and monitoring with included PC-software (COM0)
